Recount Writing

I am learning to write a recount of my experiences

• order my ideas
• add detail to my ideas
• use full stops and capital letters
• use time words like after, next, later etc

Counting Money and Giving Change

I am learning to recognise the value of NZ coins and to add, total and give change.




I think it was hard for me but I feel happy because I did it.

It was great to see you 'having a go' even when it got tricky.  You can count in tens really well.  Mrs Templeton 18.11.16

Grandpa's Birthday - Word Endings

We are learning to 'chunk' words and patterns, recognise base words and endings.

I try to sound out words.  Its hard to read big words.  Its getting easier to see the endings.

I am learning to identify, name and sort a range of 2D shapes according to their attributes: (number of sides, corners, parallel lines, curves, size and shape etc)

Describing a Storm

I am learning to describe a storm using my senses.

To be successful, I will choose interesting words to describe what I can see, hear and feel during a storm.

Visual Art: Geometric Shape Art

I have been learning to observe and compare the works of other artists and to create my own art work using geometric shapes.

To be successful I needed to look at the works of Klee, Matisse and Kandinsky (right) and cut a range of shapes in different sizes and place them carefully to create my own masterpiece. (left)

I am learning to write alliterated sentences.

Heba helps hippos.

"First I wrote all the words that start with the 'h' sound, then I wrote a sentence. It was very tricky, but it was fun."

I have been learning to draw my self portrait.  To do this I had to study the shapes in my face and look at where things went.

"I enjoyed drawing a picture of me.  I think it looks good."

My Family

My family is from New Zealand.  There are 7 people in my family.  We like to play.  We like having fun. Heba March 2016

In writing I am writing about my family.  I am learning to use capital letters and full stops in the right places.

I enjoyed writing about what we like to do, but it was a bit hard to remember where to put the capital letters.
